Kevin Garnett to sit out game against Miami Heat

Kevin Garnett will miss the game against the Miami Heat as he continues to search for full fitness following back problems.

The Brooklyn Nets have decided not to play Kevin Garnett against the Miami Heat at the AmericanAirlines Arena on Tuesday night.

Garnett returned to the court following a 19-game absence with a back injury to help the Nets to a 105-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

However, Brooklyn have insisted that the 37-year-old did not suffer a setback in practice, with head coach Jason Kidd claiming that it was "just part of the plan" to give Garnett a rest ahead of the playoffs.

Garnett, who has averaged 6.8 points per game this season, is expected to be available for Wednesday's meeting with the Orlando Magic.
