British number two Aljaz Bedene advances at German Open

British number two Aljaz Bedene beats world number 69 Daniel Gimeno-Traver in straight sets to reach the second round of the German Open in Hamburg.

British number two Aljaz Bedene has reached the second round of the German Open thanks to a comfortable straight-sets win over world number 69 Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

Bedene saved a break point against the Spaniard midway through the opening set before taking it 6-4.

The 26-year-old Brit was dominant in the second as he broke twice on his way to clinching a 6-4 6-1 victory.

Bedene will face either Croatia's Borna Coric or Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in the next round.
