Rafael Nadal wins on comeback to competitive action

Rafael Nadal wins his first match after seven months out injured - a 6-3 6-2 doubles victory alongside Juan Monaco in Chile.

Rafael Nadal made his return to competitive tennis action on Tuesday after seven injury-hit months out of the sport.

The Spaniard picked a low-key venue for his return, competing alongside Juan Monaco in a VTR Open doubles match at the Chilean port of Vina del Mar.

Nadal, who had not competed since being stunned at Wimbledon by Lukas Rosol in June, and Monaco defeated second seeds Frantisek Cermak and Lukas Dlouhy 6-3 6-2.

Nadal's next step on the road to full fitness is a singles match tomorrow against either Federico Delbonis or Guido Pella, both of Argentina.
