Richard Gasquet fights back to beat Kevin Anderson

France's Richard Gasquet comes from a set down to beat 15th seed Kevin Anderson 4-6 7-6 7-6 6-4 at the French Open.

Richard Gasquet has come from a set down to knock 15th seed Kevin Anderson out of the French Open with a 4-6 7-6 7-5 6-4 win in the third round at Roland Garros this afternoon.

The South African was on the attack from the start as he tried to get an early break, but the 20th seed fought hard to keep the first set on serve before Anderson eventually edged ahead and served out for a one-set lead.

The second set was another close encounter, with both players serving strongly to force a tie-break, which Gasquet narrowly clinched to level the match.

Anderson started to look tired midway through the third set as Gasquet continued to fight for every point, allowing him to take the lead for the first time in the match.

The big-serving South African continued to serve well at the start of the fourth set, but Gasquet's resilience at the net brought up a run of break points and left the French player to serve for the match.

Anderson returned aggressively in a bid to keep himself in the match, forcing deuce on Gasquet's serve, but the 20th seed dug deep to serve it out.

Gasquet will face world number one Novak Djokovic in the next round.
