Luke Charteris warns Wales against slow World Cup start

Wales can't afford to make a slow start to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, says lock forward Luke Charteris.

Wales forward Luke Charteris has said that his side must make a fast start to the Rugby World Cup or face elimination at the pool stage.

Wales lost their opening Six Nations match for the second time in three years when they slumped to a 21-16 defeat at home to England, and Charteris insists that they must sort out the problem.

He told BBC Sport: "We have to work on that first game. The pool we've got in the World Cup is so tight, you can't really afford to start slowly. If you lose one of the games, then you're out of the tournament. So that's something we'll have to look at."

Wales open their World Cup campaign against Uruguay, before they go on to face England, Fiji and Australia.
