Sale Sharks lock Michael Paterson to join Northampton Saints

Northampton Saints announce that Sale Sharks lock Michael Paterson will join the club in the summer.

Northampton Saints have confirmed that Sale Sharks lock Michael Paterson will join the club at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old, who moved to Sale from Cardiff Blues in 2013, was part of the England squad that faced the Barbarians last year.

"Michael has proven himself to be a quality player wherever he has been," Northampton head coach Jim Mallinder told the club's official website.

"He has earned recognition from national selectors, supporters and players alike for the consistently high levels of performance and commitment in the jersey. He is an excellent signing for us and will add to our options in the pack, which is an important area of the team."

Northampton continue the defence of their Aviva Premiership title on Saturday when they face a crunch trip to rivals Bath.
