Holders Leinster have kept alive their slim hopes of reaching the Heineken Cup quarter-finals with a 33-14 win over Scarlets in Dublin.

Aled Thomas kicked a penalty and Liam Williams scored a drop goal for the visitors in the first half, but it was Leinster who took control thanks to tries from Cian Healy, Shane Jennings and Luke Fitzgerald.

Jonny Sexton converted two of those scores to put the home side 19-6 in front with 33 minutes on the clock.

Scarlets struck on the stroke of half time as Williams touched down, only to miss with the resulting kick.

Sexton then converted a Rob Kearney try early in the second half to stretch Leinster's advantage.

Scarlets cut the deficit to 12 points thanks to a second Thomas penalty, but Leinster had the last say when Ian Madigan converted his own try in the 79th minute.
