Jamal Fakir commits to Catalans Dragons with new 12-month contract

Jamal Fakir dispels speculation over his future by signing a new 12-month contract with the Catalans Dragons.

The Catalans Dragons have announced that France international Jamal Fakir has signed a new 12-month contract with the club.

The 31-year-old had been linked with possible moves to the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Hull Kingston Rovers, but the prop has opted to stay put in Perpignan.

"I'm really happy to extend my contract with the Catalan Dragons," Fakir told the club's official website. "I arrived at the club in 2003 and I'm really proud to celebrate my 10 years here."

Fakir, who made his 150th appearance for the Dragons this season, has an option to extend his deal for the 2015 campaign.
