The Ivory Coast international has scored 10 goals during the current campaign - including four in his last two matches.
"I am delighted with the goals," the 29-year-old told reporters. "It has been difficult to settle but it is a fantastic club trying everything for the players.
"We have a great young manager who we all want to play for. I hope to score more goals in the 11 games left in the season."
Kone signed a three-year deal with Wigan from Levante in the summer for around £3m.
