West Brom midfielder George Thorne is on the verge of joining Derby after the two clubs have agreed a fee.

Derby County have agreed a fee with West Bromwich Albion to sign midfielder George Thorne.

The 21-year-old helped the Rams finish third in the Championship last season and has handed in two transfer requests at The Hawthorns.

Albion initially rejected two bids from Derby, where Thorne enjoyed a four-month spell last season.

The West Brom squad has travelled to the United States for a pre-season tour but Thorne stayed behind due to the proposed move to the iPro Stadium.

Steve McClaren saw a bid of £1m rejected last month, with the Baggies insisting that the young midfielder was not for sale.
