Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy fire Leicester to West Brom victory

Jamie Vardy scores for an eighth Premier League game in a row as Leicester City come from behind to beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at The Hawthorns.

Two strikes in the space of seven second-half minutes from Riyad Mahrez and an 11th goal of the season for Jamie Vardy have seen Leicester City come from behind to beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at The Hawthorns and move up to third in the Premier League table.

Leicester brought Leonardo Ulloa back into the starting lineup after a month out, but it was his strike partner and Premier League top scorer Vardy who could have opened the scoring after nine minutes when he latched onto a through ball and jinked past his marker, only to see Boaz Myhill tip his driven effort onto the post.

Both sides struggled to find any early rhythm on the ball against well-drilled opposition, but it continued to be Leicester who enjoyed the majority of the rare attacking pressure as Marc Albrighton curled wide after beating two defenders on his way to the edge of the box.

Albion secured their first home league win of the season a fortnight ago thanks to Saido Berahino but this time it was his strike partner who broke the deadlock after half an hour, Rondon evading Danny Simpson to meet Stephane Sessegnon's corner and head past Kasper Schmeichel.

The Foxes nearly struck back 10 minutes later when Myhill had to be alert to keep out Ulloa's glancing header from Mahrez's cross but it was the Baggies pressing for a second as the half-time whistle sounded.

Simpson's last-ditch intervention prevented Berahino doubling the lead shortly after the break, but just before the hour mark Claudio Ranieri's side crafted an equaliser when Albrighton's dangerous cross was turned home by Mahrez at the back post.

Just seven minutes later the game was turned on its head completely and it was Mahrez again, ghosting in at the back post once more to volley home Albrighton's cross amid questions of offside.

With Albion pressing in search of an equaliser, Vardy finally got his chance to continue his scoring streak with 13 minutes remaining and he took it to give Ranieri's side a two-goal cushion.

The striker exchanged passes with Danny Drinkwater and raced clear of the defence to drill past Myhill and make it 10 goals in his last eight Premier League matches.

There was a late scare for the visitors when Rickie Lambert scored his first goal since January from the penalty spot after Callum McManaman was fouled, but Leicester clung on for a sixth win of the season to move up to third.
