Sunderland boss Steve Bruce admits that he is not thinking about Darren Bent's return ahead of Aston Villa's visit this weekend.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he is not thinking about Darren Bent ahead of the striker's return with Aston Villa this weekend.

Bent moved to Villa Park in January for £18m, but Bruce is more focused on securing the three points at the Stadium of Light.

"The important thing for us is to focus on beating Aston Villa," Bruce told the club's official website. "We've got a game to win to really get our season on track.

"We could go to Manchester United in the top half of the table with a quarter of the season gone, which was our aim."

The Black Cats are currently 14th in the Premier League table.
