Report: Real Madrid target Ramires

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a January bid for Chelsea midfielder Ramires, who could be the long-term replacement for Xabi Alonso at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a January bid for Chelsea star Ramires.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be keen to boost his midfield options due to concerns regarding the long-term fitness of Xabi Alonso.

According to The Metro, scouts from the La Liga giants will continue to monitor Ramires until the transfer window reopens in the New Year, when they could make a bid in the region of £15m for the 26-year-old Brazilian.

Ancelotti was in charge at Stamford Bridge when the Blues signed Ramires from Benfica for £19.6m in August 2010.

Ramires has since made 101 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring 12 goals in the process.
