Marc Bircham: 'Fans can help Queens Park Rangers survive'

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Marc Bircham calls upon the supporters to play their role in the club's survival quest this season.

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Marc Bircham believes that the supporters can play a big part in helping the club preserve their Premier League status this season.

Bircham, now a youth coach at Loftus Road, has called upon the fans to produce the same atmosphere that they created during the recent 3-2 victory over Liverpool.

Asked by Sports Mole about QPR's chances of survival, Bircham said: "I think we can definitely do it. The result against Liverpool was a massive result for us. Not just as in getting the three points, but also for the players and the fans.

"We've got Arsenal and Tottenham to come at home and if we can make Loftus Road that hostile we've got a chance."

QPR's remaining fixtures include matches against the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite having a difficult run in on paper, Bircham has insisted that playing the bigger clubs could work in the R's favour.

"As we've said to the lads just go out there and go and give everything. There's no expectation," Bircham added. "It is probably better to play the bigger clubs at this time of year because there is always upsets.

"With only eight games to go there is pressure on every team, as much as there is us.

"I know it is a different type of pressure, but Arsenal are fighting with Spurs for a Champions League spot and you've Man United going toe to toe with Manchester City. They've got to deal with their pressure and so have we."

QPR are currently 18th in the Premier League table, a single point away from safety.
