Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Poland could line up for Wednesday's Group E clash with Sweden.

As Poland must win to take a place in the top two of Group E at Euro 2020, they are under pressure to seize the initiative against a resolute Sweden side on Wednesday.

Having picked up a solitary point from their first two games - though a spirited draw against group favourites Spain has lifted hopes - the Eagles may feel the need to move to a more attacking approach. However, head coach Paulo Sousa will not want to sacrifice hard-won momentum coming into such a make-or-break game, so is likely to at least start with a similar side.

Almost certain of returning to the XI, though, is veteran midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, who is back from a one-match suspension, after being sent off in the opening game.

Therefore, Mateusz Klich and Jakub Moder - who has been struggling with a knee issue this week - are competing for one place in central midfield, though Torino's Karol Linetty is another engine room option for Sousa. Chief creator Piotr Zielinski is set to start out in a wider role, but should have some license to roam.

Both Klich and Moder - as well as Kamil Jozwiak and star striker Robert Lewandowski - would miss a potential last-16 tie next if booked, but that should only come into the Portuguese coach's thinking if three points have been wrapped up in the second half.

Incidentally, another Lewandowski goal this week would be just the fourth European Championship strike of his distinguished career - taking him clear of former Borussia Dortmund teammate Jakub Blaszczykowski as the Eagles' Euros record holder. With the skipper's two most regular strike partners - Krzysztof Piatek and Arkadiusz Milik - being ruled out of action before the event got underway, it will be young Karol Swiderski who joins him in the Polish front pairing once again.

On the bench, meanwhile, Sousa has a limited handful of alternatives, including former Sampdoria striker Dawid Kownacki and - most likely to feature in the latter stages - midfield starlet Kacper Kozlowski, who became the youngest ever participant at a European finals when coming off the bench against Spain.

Poland possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Bereszynski, Bednarek, Glik; Jozwiak, Klich, Krychowiak, Zielinski, Puchacz; Swiderski, Lewandowski
