Manchester United will allegedly attempt to bring in England's coaching staff if they appoint Gareth Southgate as their new boss.

Manchester United will reportedly attempt to bring in England's coaching staff if they appoint Gareth Southgate as their new boss at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Southgate continues to be heavily linked with the managerial role at Old Trafford, with current boss Erik ten Hag not being publicly backed by incoming minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ten Hag is said to be involved in the conversations for this summer's transfer window, but the Dutchman's position at the helm is far from secure, with Ratcliffe and his INEOS team weighing up all of their options.

According to The Sun, should Southgate leave England to move to Old Trafford, then the Red Devils will look to bring his coaching staff to the club as part of a revamp.

The report claims that Southgate's assistant Steve Holland would be wanted by the club alongside coaches Paul Nevin and Martyn Margetson.

Holland was Chelsea's assistant manager between 2011 and 2017, and he has worked alongside Southgate at international level since 2013.

Nevin, meanwhile, balances his coaching role at England with a position on Patrick Vieira's staff at Strasbourg.

The 54-year-old, who is in his second spell on the staff with the Three Lions, has also previously worked as a first-team coach at West Ham United.

Margetson, meanwhile, has been England's goalkeeping coach since 2017, and he has previously worked for Cardiff City, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Swansea City.

Southgate's contract with England expires at the end of the year, and the Three Lions manager recently admitted that his staff could soon leave their roles with the national team.

"There's a fair chance half the coaches won't be here after the Euros. That's international football," Southgate told reporters when asked about the future beyond Euro 2024.

"You've got to see how the summer goes - it's as simple as that. I know what we're capable of achieving in the summer, I know what my own benchmark of success would be, after that I'm not really thinking about anything else.

"We've got to deliver a performance and you've got to make the best decisions for everybody. I won't be in a position to make that decision before the tournament."

Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag are currently Man United's assistant managers, while Richard Hartis and Craig Mawson are the goalkeeping coaches at the club.

Brentford's Thomas Frank is also being linked with the managerial role at Old Trafford, while ex-Chelsea head coach Graham Potter is said to be admired by senior figures at INEOS.
