Roberto Mancini says Manchester City were nervous in their 1-1 draw against Napoli on their Champions League debut.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted that nerves got the better of his side in their 1-1 draw against Napoli in the Champions League.

The match marked the Blues' debut in the competition, and it took Aleksander Kolarov's finely-struck free-kick to earn a point against their Italian opponents.

"We were so nervous," Mancini told Sky Sports News. "It is normal. After many years we play our first game in the Champions League.

"The first game is always difficult and it was difficult to play against Naples because they defend really well and when they're on the counter attack they're really dangerous.

"We wanted to win but the Champions League is hard. For us it was important to start well."

City resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they travel to Fulham.
