Ten-man Lorient hold on for win

Lorient beat relegated Ajaccio 1-0 in Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon despite going down to 10 men after just 25 minutes.

Lorient have claimed a 1-0 win over Ajaccio in Ligue 1 this evening, despite playing the majority of the game with just 10 men.

The home side started strongly and almost went ahead on six minutes, but Alain Traore's header from some way out in the box did not come back down in time.

The opening goal came a little more than 10 minutes later as Gilles Sunu beat Mickael Leca before sending an early cross into the box for Jeremie Aliadiere to stroke home.

On 25 minutes, Bruno Ecuele Manga was shown a straight red card for bringing down Paul Lasne in the box, but Aboubacar Demba Camara saw his subsequent penalty saved, with Mehdi Mostefa missing the rebound.

Even with 10 men Lorient remained the stronger team against their relegated opponents, but aside from Mostefa firing wide for Ajaccio with 20 minutes to play, there was not much more action as the hosts held on for the win.
