The away side took an early lead after just seven minutes when the referee awarded them a penalty. Cheick Diabate stepped up and fired home to make it 1-0.

Vincent Aboubakar had a chance to equalise for Lorient on 17 minutes, but he could only put his effort wide of the post.

Aboubakar did bring the scores level on 22 minutes, finishing well to make it 1-1.

Bordeaux immediately replied to regain their lead minutes later through Gregory Sertic, who made it 2-1.

Henri Saivet extended Bordeaux's lead even further on the half-hour mark, calmly finishing to make it 3-1.

Lorient began to push forward before half time in a bid to get themselves back into the game and eventually pulled one back on 45 minutes through Kevin Monnet-Paquet.

The home side pushed forward in search of an equaliser early in the second half and came close on a couple of occasions.

Lorient then did draw level on 58 minutes through Sadio Diallo, who finished well from a Yann Jouffre assist.

A minute later, Diabate came close to restoring Bordeaux's lead again, but he could not find the target with his shot.

Monnet-Paquet had two efforts late on for Lorient, but the defence stood firm on both occasions to keep the score at 3-3.
