Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson admits that it was a case of same old story for his side as they failed to take their chances in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.

Jordan Henderson has insisted that it is just a matter of time before Liverpool go on a winning run after dropping yet more points in the Premier League.

The Reds failed to make the most of their numerous chances at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon as they slipped to a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.

A long-range strike from Philippe Coutinho was cancelled out by a fortunate Joselu finish to ensure that the spoils were shared, making it one win in seven games overall for the Merseyside outfit since thrashing Arsenal 4-0 at the end of August.

Liverpool's goals have also dried up, with eight scored across those last seven games, but Henderson is confident that it is just a matter of time before his side's luck turns.

"It feels like we are saying same thing. We do so many good things but come away frustrated," he told BBC Sport. "It is a strange feeling. We created good chances to win the game and were comfortable but overall we are frustrated.

"We have to keep going, keep creating and they will turn into goals. Saying that, we did keep going. I feel once we get one they will all start going in.

"Philippe was brilliant again today. He deserved his goal. He is a great person, a fantastic player for this team. We all love him. A lot of things happen in football. Phil has been brilliant. He has put his frustration into games and is playing with freedom. He has been fantastic."

Liverpool have now scored 295 Premier League goals from outside the box - 33 more than any other side - with Coutinho responsible for 17 of those.
