Everton 'prepare £3m bid for Sam Byram'

Everton are reportedly preparing a £3m bid for Leeds United wing-back Sam Byram.

Everton have tabled a £3m bid to sign wantaway Leeds United wing-back Sam Byram, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at Elland Road in the summer and will be able to move for free, although Leeds will be owed some compensation due to his age.

Byram has refused repeated offers of a new deal with the Championship side, leaving owner Massimo Cellino "deeply offended".

With time running out, Cellino is now keen to cash in on Byram during this month's window although is said to be asking for at least £5m for a player who has featured in all but three league games this season.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been monitoring Byram "for some time", the newspaper claims, and views him as a long-term successor for Seamus Coleman at right-back.

West Ham United, Leicester City, Norwich City and Crystal Palace, as well as Everton's Merseyside rivals Liverpool, have also been monitoring the situation.
