Saturday's Championship predictions including Watford vs. Leicester City

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Watford vs. Leicester City.

Ipswich vs. West Brom (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Aiming to keep their top-two hopes alive and kicking, Ipswich Town will welcome West Bromwich Albion to Portman Road for a Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Tractors Boys' promotion aims were dealt a blow at Preston North End last time out, while the Baggies narrowly got the better of Birmingham City at The Hawthorns.

We say: Ipswich Town 2-2 West Bromwich Albion

Ipswich have been involved in some entertaining matches of late, and we feel that Portman Road will play host to another goal-laden contest on Saturday.

The Baggies are notoriously worse on their travels compared to at The Hawthorns, although we believe that they will have enough to earn a point in East Anglia.

Blackburn vs. Stoke (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Both looking to move away from the relegation spots in the second-tier table, Blackburn Rovers will do battle with Stoke City at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon in the Championship.

Rovers were defeated 2-1 by relegation rivals Queens Park Rangers last time out, while the Potters were smashed by league leaders Leicester City.

We say: Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Stoke City

Although Eustace could be in the dugout in time for Saturday, we do not expect a new manager bounce immediately for Blackburn this weekend.

Stoke were woeful in the Leicester defeat, but with a couple of alterations to the XI they should be good enough for three points from this one.

Cardiff vs. Preston (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Looking to record back-to-back wins for the first time since October, Cardiff City will welcome Preston North End to the Welsh capital for a Championship contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds managed a narrow away success at Watford last time out, while the Lilywhites reignited their top-six dreams with a victory over Ipswich Town.

We say: Cardiff City 2-1 Preston North End

Cardiff earned a much-needed three points at Watford last Saturday, and with a host of January arrivals set for their home debuts, it could be a good afternoon for the Bluebirds against Preston.

The Lilywhites did well to beat top-two hopefuls Ipswich last time out, but we feel that Lowe's side will be hindered by their inconsistency once again in South Wales.

Hull City vs. Swansea (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Luke Williams will continue his search for a first Championship victory as Swansea City manager on Saturday, when his side travel to take on Hull City.

The hosts currently sit sixth in the Championship table and will bid to strengthen their playoff bid, while the Swans now find themselves 17th on the back of three straight defeats.

We say: Hull City 2-0 Swansea City

Swansea City are yet to find their groove under Williams, while Hull City are gaining momentum with an abundance of quality in their squad, particularly going forward, and we can only envisage a home victory at the weekend with Rosenior's men setting out to further strengthen their standing in the top six.

Leeds vs. Rotherham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke reacts on January 21, 2024© Reuters

Two Yorkshire teams fighting at opposite ends of the Championship table will do battle on Saturday, as Rotherham United travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United.

The hosts are hot on the heels of second-placed Southampton in the race for automatic promotion, while their visitors sit at the bottom of the division with a 12-point gap to safety.

We say: Leeds United 3-0 Rotherham United

With home advantage, more quality throughout their squad and plenty of momentum behind them, Leeds United should fancy their chances to beat their Yorkshire rivals in dominant fashion at Elland Road at the weekend.

Middlesbrough vs. Bristol City (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick on January 23, 2024© Reuters

Looking to turn their top-six dreams into a reality for back-to-back campaigns, Middlesbrough will welcome Bristol City to the Riverside Stadium for a crucial Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.

Boro were forced to settle for a point against North-East rivals Sunderland last time out, while the Robins were unsuccessful in midweek during their FA Cup replay against Premier League opposition.

We say: Middlesbrough 2-1 Bristol City

Apart from the 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea in the EFL Cup, Middlesbrough have arguably created the chances to win all of their recent matches, so Boro should be confident of earning three points on Saturday.

Bristol City did well to take their top-flight opponents to penalty kicks on Wednesday night, although we believe that the Robins' wait for a win will continue at the Riverside.

QPR vs. Norwich (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Queens Park Rangers manager Marti Cifuentes before the match on January 14, 2024© Reuters

Queens Park Rangers play host to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon looking for the win that may move the club outside of the Championship relegation zone.

At a time when the Hoops occupy 22nd position in the standings, Norwich sit in ninth place after a recent upturn in fortunes.

We say: Queens Park Rangers 1-1 Norwich City

Despite the difference in league positions, this is a contest between two in-form teams and one which we expect to be competitive. Both sides are eager for maximum points for contrasting reasons, yet we feel that a draw will be played out at Loftus Road.

Southampton vs. Huddersfield (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Southampton manager Russell Martin on February 6, 2024© Reuters

Southampton will be looking to further extend their outstanding unbeaten run when they play host to Huddersfield Town in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

While the Saints sit in second position in the standings, Huddersfield are down in 21st spot, albeit having put together a four-match undefeated streak of their own.

We say: Southampton 3-0 Huddersfield Town

Although Huddersfield will be on a high after their recent victory, a rarity this season, we cannot back against Southampton. There has been a ruthlessness about the Saints for some time and we expect that to continue on Saturday.

Sunderland vs. Plymouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sunderland manager Michael Beale on January 1, 2024© Reuters

Sunderland square off against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon looking for the win that may move the club back into the Championship playoff places.

The Black Cats currently sit in eighth spot in the table at a time when Plymouth make the trip to the Stadium of Light in 15th position.

We say: Sunderland 2-2 Plymouth Argyle

Although Sunderland are the marginal favourites for this contest, it feels as though they are playing a resurgent Plymouth at the wrong time. With their new signings back in the side, we expect the Pilgrims to earn a share of the spoils in an entertaining tussle.

Watford vs. Leicester (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca during the match on December 18, 2023© Reuters

Leicester City make the trip to Watford on Saturday afternoon looking to strengthen their position at the top of the Championship standings.

At a time when the Foxes hold an 11-point lead in first place, Watford have recently dropped down to 11th spot after a recent poor run of form.

We say: Watford 1-3 Leicester City

Having being outclassed against the second-placed team in the division on Tuesday, Watford would ideally not want to be facing the leaders next. Although a competitive encounter could ensue, Leicester should have enough quality in the final third to come through with the win.
