Steve Bruce hopeful over Jake Livermore hearing

Steve Bruce admits that Hull City "need the situation resolved" concerning Jake Livermore's failed drug test earlier this year.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has admitted that he is eager for an outcome to the ongoing Jake Livermore drug case.

The 25-year-old was suspended pending a Football Association hearing after testing positive for cocaine in May.

Reports emerged on Thursday suggesting that Livermore turned to the Class A drug after struggling with the loss of his child.

When asked about the situation by reporters, Bruce claimed that the case has dragged on for too long, but he is hopeful that a decision over any potential ban is close to being made.

"The hearing has been set we all know and there was media reports yesterday and really we have just got to let the hearing take place and let's see what Jake's punishment is," the City manager said.

"For me, the process has taken a bit too long for everybody concerned but thankfully it's edging towards a conclusion and the quicker the better because we need the situation resolved."

Livermore, who is still suspended by Hull, faces a maximum ban of two years.
