Bordeaux leapfrog Guingamp with victory

Bordeaux move above Guingamp in Ligue 1 after a narrow win on Wednesday night.

Julien Faubert scored the only goal of the game as Bordeaux picked up a 1-0 victory at Guingamp in Ligue 1.

Both sides had a man sent off as Bordeaux extended their unbeaten run to three league games despite Lucas Orban's red card, while Claudio Beauvue was dismissed for Guingamp.

Having made the better start to the match, Bordeaux went ahead in the 26th minute when Faubert was played into the penalty area from a ball over the top, before drilling a low effort into the bottom far corner across the face of goal that gave Guy N'dy Assembe no chance.

Guingamp's chances of a leveller improved early after the break when Bordeaux were reduced to 10 men as a result of Orban picking up his second yellow card of the evening.

The two sides finished with the same number of players after Beauvue was given his marching orders in stoppage time.

The win moves Bordeaux up to seventh in Ligue 1, while Guingamp drop to ninth.
