Early Stefan Scepovic header seals Getafe win

Stefan Scepovic scores after just two minutes to give Getafe their first three points of the La Liga season against Malaga.

Getafe have won their first game of the season thanks to an early Stefan Scepovic strike against Malaga.

The Madrid side took the lead after just two minutes, with Victor Rodriguez allowed to run half the length of the pitch by the Malaga defence before setting up a cross for Scepovic to head the ball home from eight yards out.

Malaga looked to get back in the game, with Nordin Amrabat playing Ricardo Horta in behind Getafe but the 20-year-old could only find the side-netting of Vicente Guaita's goal.

Scepovic should have scored his second midway through the first half after Roberto Lago sent in a teasing cross, but the Celtic loanee could not connect with the ball from close range.

In the second half, Rodriguez drove into the box before blasting the ball towards goal, but Carlos Kameni stood tall to prevent the winger adding to Getafe's lead.

Duje Cop came the closest for Malaga late on with a deflected free kick, but Guaita palmed the strike over the bar to preserve the three points.

Getafe rise to 12th in the La Liga table while Malaga drop into the relegation zone as they still look for their first goal of the season.
