Fiorentina maintain strong start

Fiorentina make it three wins from four matches as Giuseppe Rossi gets on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win over Atalanta BC.

Fiorentina have continued their unbeaten start in Serie A this season with a 2-0 success against Atalanta BC, despite missing a pair of key players through injury.

La Viola were without Mario Gomez and Juan Cuadrado but took a deserved lead just before half time through Matias Fernandez, who marked his first league start of the campaign with a composed finish.

Atalanta looked more lively after the break but lacked a cutting edge in the final third, thanks to Giacomo Bonaventura's absence from the side.

Fiorentina carried a threat on the counter and made the three points safe 20 minutes from time, with Giuseppe Rossi getting his fifth goal of the season following fine approach play from Gonzalo Rodriguez.

Bonaventua come on for the hosts but he and German Denis were both frustrated in their search for a goal to reduce the deficit, as Vincenzo Montella's side made it 10 points from a possible 12 to start the campaign in style.
