Kevin Mirallas extends Everton contract

Everton announce that Kevin Mirallas has signed a new three-year contract at Goodison Park.

Everton have announced that Kevin Mirallas has signed a new three-year contract at Goodison Park.

The Belgian winger, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United this summer, was due to be out of contract next year, but has now extended his stay until 2018.

"We all know the goalscoring threat and talent that Kevin brings to the team and it was very important to end the uncertainty regarding the next step in his career," Toffees boss Roberto Martinez told the club website.

"To say I am delighted is an understatement. What this means is that Kevin has chosen Everton for the next chapter in his career and, as you can imagine, his potential impact and contribution will be a major part of what we are trying to achieve."

Mirallas joined Everton from Olympiacos three years ago and has gone on to score 28 goals in 106 appearances.

He is the second Everton player to commit to the club ahead of Saturday's season opener against Watford, following James McCarthy, who penned a five-year deal yesterday.
