Celta Vigo edge past Deportivo La Coruna

Celta Vigo beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 to move into the top five in the La Liga table.

Celta Vigo have maintained their unbeaten start to the La Liga season by beating Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 this evening.

Nolito gave the hosts the lead in the fourth minute when he drove into the box before firing a low strike into the bottom corner.

Deportivo equalised in the 55th minute through Isaac Cuenca, who was picked out inside the box and drilled a low shot across the keeper and into the net.

In the 72nd minute Celta restored their advantage when Joaquin Larrivey rose highest to power a header into the net from a corner.

With a minute left to play the visitors were awarded the chance to level the scores for a second time, but Haris Medunjanin saw his penalty saved by Sergio Alvarez.

It proved to be the final chance of the evening for Deportivo, as they slumped to their third league defeat of the season.
