David Amoo double downs 10-man Peterborough United

David Amoo strikes twice in quick succession to inflict a 2-1 defeat on 10-man Peterborough United at Brunton Park.

David Amoo struck twice in quick succession as Carlisle United beat 10-man Peterborough United 2-1 at Brunton Park this afternoon.

It took some 52 minutes for the clash to throw up the first major talking point, when Hogan Ephraim was issued a straight red card for a challenge on Liam Noble.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Posh rallied and took the lead on the hour mark, with Lee Tomlin's free kick proving too good for goalkeeper Ben Amos.

However, the hosts were soon level, with Amoo getting on the end of a Tom Lawrence cross to prod home the equaliser.

Within less than a minute Greg Abbott's men had taken the lead, with Amoo again proving troublesome for Darren Ferguson's men, as the former Liverpool youth team player found himself unmarked at the back post to convert a Matty Robson cross.

There was yet more drama, however, as the visitors spurned the opportunity to level matters with four minutes remaining.

Grant McCann - a second-half substitute - stepped up to take a penalty, only to see his spot kick saved by Amos.

It proved a costly miss as Carlisle survived the scare to record the victory.
