Jamie Redknapp claims that the current Arsenal side is the worst he has ever seen following their 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Former Bournemouth midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that the Arsenal side which lost to the Cherries this afternoon is the worst that he has ever seen.

The Gunners were without Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez at the Vitality Stadium but still managed to take the lead through Hector Bellerin, only to then concede twice in the final 20 minutes on their way to a sixth defeat of the season.

Arsene Wenger's side are now eight points adrift of the Champions League places, and Redknapp does not believe that any of the current crop would stack up against previous Arsenal teams from the Premier League era.

"I'd say it is the worst Arsenal team I've seen. If you are looking at the blue chip players of years gone by, [Thierry] Henry, [Dennis] Bergkamp, there's no players who are going to get in the Hall of Fame from this side," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"Arsenal were very disappointing today. It is the same failings, a lack of desire to get back in the game. Bournemouth got it back to 1-1 and you could just see it was inevitable. There were no characters out there, no-one pulling people into position. A hugely disappointing result, and a performance.

"It's a great result for [Bournemouth], but I will be interested in seeing what Eddie Howe has to say, because I don't think they were at their best. They needed something just to turn their season around, a result against one of the big clubs. The confidence that will give them, it's a massive result."

Arsenal are now winless in their last five matches across all competitions and are eight points worse off than at the same stage of last season.
