Striker Marcus Tudgay hints that he could be playing to earn a new deal during his loan spell with Barnsley.

Marcus Tudgay has hinted that he could be playing for a new contract during his loan spell with Barnsley.

The Nottingham Forest striker joined the South Yorkshire club on Thursday, where he will remain until January.

Tudgay, who spent two months on loan at Oakwell last season, has said that he is looking forward to another stint with the club.

"I'm here and I want to do well for Barnsley. Call it a shop window if you want, my contract's up at the end of the season and we'll see what happens," Football365.com quotes him as saying.

"In theory you could say I'm playing for a move because it isn't looking like it's going to happen at Forest and it's a chance for me to show I can play in the Championship and still score goals.

"But I'm not coming here to be selfish. It's not all me, me, me, my intention is to help lift Barnsley up the table."

Tudgay's contract at Forest will expire at the end of the season.
