Chris O'Grady equaliser seals draw for Barnsley

Chris O'Grady cancels out a Hal Robson-Kanu goal to give Barnsley a 1-1 draw with Reading at Oakwell.

Barnsley and Reading have shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw at Oakwell this evening.

Pavel Pogrebnyak and Jason Scotland had the best of the chances in a quiet first half, while Adam Le Fondre miscued from a strong position just before the break.

The visitors made a bright start to the second half, as Le Fondre tested Jack Butland less than a minute after the restart, before blasting the rebound high.

The Royals took the lead in the 51st minute, as Hal Robson-Kanu struck the ball from 20 yards out, picking out the top-right corner.

Paddy McCourt had a chance for a quick equaliser for the Tykes, but Alex McCarthy punched the ball away before Alex Pearce made the clearance.

Hope Akpan, who had only just come on as a substitute, managed to pick out Le Fondre in the box, setting the Reading striker up for a simple finish from close range, but Butland kept his composure to tip the ball wide, before Sean Morrison struck the bar from the resulting corner.

The home side were able to level the scores with just over 10 minutes left to play, as Scott Wiseman made a speedy run down the wing before crossing in for Chris O'Grady to slot the ball in from inside the box.

Tomasz Cywka had a chance to score a winner for the hosts in stoppage time, but McCarthy made another save to ensure that the sides finished level.
