Chesterman: 'Morris popular choice to carry Australian flag'

Australian Winter Olympics chef de mission Ian Chesterman has said that David Morris was the standout candidate to carry his country's flag at tonight's closing ceremony.

Freestyle skier Morris, who won a silver medal in men's aerials event in Sochi earlier this month, was confirmed as Team Australia's flagbearer on Saturday.

"Dave is a very popular choice," Chesterman told reporters.

"He came here known as a great team man among the aerial group, but he has quickly made friends with everyone in the team and they are delighted that he will be leading them out on Sunday night".

Morris made his Olympic debut in Vancouver four years ago, finishing 13th in the men's aerials.
