Korean defends speed skating crown in record time

South Korea's Lee Sang-hwa has successfully defended her Winter Games 500m speed skating title on Tuesday with a win in a new Olympic record time.

Lee was ahead from the start and produced an impressive performance to finish ahead of the rest of the field in a combined time of 74.70 from both runs.

The Netherlands' success on the ice continued with another medal, this time for Margot Boer, but her time of 75.48 put her behind Russia's Olga Fatkulina in third place.

The USA's Heather Richardson managed a top-10 finish, coming eighth overall.
