Serena Williams storms in Wimbledon final

Serena storms into Wimbledon final

Serena Williams produced a dominant display on Centre Court to storm into the final of Wimbledon courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Elena Vesnina this afternoon.

The reigning champion took less than 50 minutes to see off her opponent 6-2 6-0 and set up a possible showdown with sister Venus Williams in the final at SW19.

Serena wasted little time in taking control of the contest, racing into a 4-0 lead in the opening set before Vesnina finally got on the board having saved another break point.

The world number one never looked like letting her lead slip, though, losing just three points on her own serve as she comfortably saw out the set in less than half an hour.

Williams was even more dominant in the second set, breaking Vesnina three times to take it to love and power into the showpiece with one of the most dominant semi-final displays in recent Wimbledon history.

The victory means that Williams is now just one win away from equalling Steffi Graf's Open Era record of 22 Grand Slam titles, in addition to emulating Graf's seven victories at Wimbledon.
