Arantxa Rus knocks out Samantha Stosur in round three

Former US Open champion Samantha Stosur has been knocked out of Wimbledon at the round two stage by Arantxa Rus this afternoon.

Rus, currently ranked 71st in the world, got off to a good start by claiming two breaks of Stosur's serve on her way to wrapping up the opening set 6-2.

However, Stosur went on to produce some of the form that has currently seen her ranked the fifth best player in the world in the second set. The Australian produced a string of powerful forehand shots on her way to recording a 6-0 success to send the match into a deciding set.

Stosur failed to build upon that momentum though when she surrendered her service game early in the third set and it didn't take long fir Rus to wrap up the contest 6-4.
