Federer quickly took control of proceedings by racing into a 4-1 lead with an early break, but Zverev fought back and won the next three games to draw level - inflicting only the second break of the Federer serve this year.

However, the third seed went on to win the tie-break 7-3 before again breaking early in the second set - this time holding his serve to take it 6-4 in just 35 minutes.
