Agnieszka Radwanska books her spot in the semi-finals of Wimbledon after overcoming Maria Kirilenko 7-5 4-6 7-5 on Tuesday.

Agnieszka Radwanska has booked her spot in the semi-finals of Wimbledon after overcoming Maria Kirilenko 7-5 4-6 7-5 on Tuesday.

It was Pole who broke at 2-2 in the opening set to move 3-2 ahead, but that was far from the end of the drama in the first.

Two more breaks of serves were shared, but Radwanska closed it out to take a one-set lead in the crucial encounter.

However, Kirlienko improved in the second and she secured three breaks of serve to eventually take it 6-4 despite dropping two service games of her own.

Play was stopped on Monday in the third due to the bad weather but the pair resumed at 4-4 on Centre on Tuesday evening.

Both players held their serve to level it at 5-5 in the third and final set, but it was Kirilenko who blinked first, as Radwanska secured the all-important break before serving to secure her spot in the last four.

Radwanska, who faces Angelique Kerber in the semis, could become the new world number one if she wins the tournament this year.
