Garbine Muguruza through to Wimbledon final

Garbine Muguruza reaches the first Grand Slam final of her career at Wimbledon thanks to a three-set win over Agnieszka Radwanska.

Garbine Muguruza secured her spot in the final of Wimbledon this afternoon courtesy of a 6-2 3-6 6-3 victory over Agnieszka Radwanska.

The Spaniard, who was appearing in the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career, took just 35 minutes to win the opening set.

She broke her Polish opponent in the very first game of the contest, before she went on to record a second break for a 4-1 lead.

Another breakthrough was made on the Radwanska serve at the start of the second set, but on this occasion the world number 13 rallied to record two breaks of her own, which in turn forced the encounter into a deciding third set.

Breaks were traded early on, but with the scores level at two games apiece, Muguruza won three on the bounce thanks to a string of winners and despite the fact that Radwanska was able to end that sequence by holding her own service game, the Barcelona-based player served out to end proceedings in her favour.

The 21-year-old will now face either world number one Serena Williams or Maria Sharapova in Saturday afternoon's final.
