David Goffin beats Liam Broady in straight sets

Britain's Liam Broady loses in straight sets to 16th seed David Goffin in the second round at Wimbledon.

Britain's Liam Broady has been knocked out in the second round at Wimbledon after losing 7-6 6-1 6-1 to Belgium's David Goffin.

With the opening set still on serve after nine games, Broady came under pressure as Goffin pushed to claim the set, but the British number six saved a set point, eventually taking it to a tiebreak.

The 21-year-old edged in front early on in his first tiebreak since moving up to the ATP Tour, but the 16th seed hit back with a run of solid groundstrokes to wrap it up 7-3.

Goffin was a break up after the opening game of the second set as Broady still appeared to be dwelling on his tiebreak loss, allowing the Belgian to move up a gear and claim the second 6-1.

Broady looked tired as the match headed into the third set, with Goffin once again getting an immediate break of serve, and had two match points while leading 5-0 as he looked to wrap up the third set quickly.

The young Brit dug deep to save both before getting his first game of the set on the board, but Goffin served the match out with ease in the next game to book his spot in round three.

Goffin will face either John Millman of Australia at Cyprus's Marcos Baghdatis in the next round.
