Kevin Anderson beats Lucas Pouille in four sets at Wimbledon

Kevin Anderson beats Lucas Pouille 6-2 7-5 3-6 6-3 in the first round at Wimbledon.

South African Kevin Anderson has moved into the second round of Wimbledon with a four-set victory over Lucas Pouille.

The Queens finalist continued his fine grass-court form as he raced through the opening set 6-2, with two breaks of serve.

Pouille gained confidence on his serve through the second set, and it looked like it was going to a tie-break before Anderson broke to lead 5-4. However, he couldn't serve the set out as the Frenchman levelled, but capitalised again two games later to move into a two-set lead.

The 14th seed's form dipped in the third, as Pouille took a 3-0 lead and held on to take the match into a fourth set.

However, Anderson regained his composure, broke Pouille early in the set, and finished the match with a volley at the net.

Anderson will play either Jerzy Janowicz or Marsel Ilhan on Wednesday.
