Wimbledon fans bidding £71k for final tickets

Tennis fans are said to be bidding as much as £71,000 for a pair of tickets to watch Andy Murray take on Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.

Ticket agency Viagogo claims that more than one million search queries for the match have been logged on its website since the Scot defeated Jerzy Janowicz in the last four.

Murray's successful passage to the final has seen ticket demand increase by some 400%, according to the company.

The British number one has now reached four Grand Slam finals in the last 12 month, a period in which he also won a gold medal at the Olympics.

Britain has not produced a male Wimbledon champion since Fred Perry's triumph in 1936.
