Heather Watson: 'I won't be overawed against Serena Williams'

British number one Heather Watson reveals that she will attempt to use previous experiences to her advantage when she faces Serena Williams on Friday.

Heather Watson has insisted that she will not be overawed by the occasion of facing Serena Williams in the third round at Wimbledon.

After impressive wins over Caroline Garcia and Daniela Hantuchova, Watson will get the opportunity to face the five-time champion, probably on Centre Court, but the British number one is hoping that she has benefited from previous defeats at SW19.

The 23-year-old told the London Evening Standard: "I remember playing against [Agnieszka Radwanska]. I wasn't sure how to deal with it.

"I remember overplaying totally and thinking she was going to be this amazing player that I'm going to have no chance against. I tried to hit winners on the first ball, which was no good, but those experiences really help.

"This time around, this isn't my first, second or third Wimbledon. I've gotten a feel for playing the top players. At the end of the day everybody is human. Everybody's going to make mistakes."

Tomorrow's contest is the first time that Watson and Williams have faced each other on the WTA Tour.
