Serena Williams seeded 25 for Wimbledon, Andy Murray unseeded

Wimbledon announces that Serena Williams will be the 25th seed for this year's tournament, but Andy Murray misses out on being seeded in the top 32 in the men's draw.

Wimbledon has announced that Serena Williams will be the number 25 seed at this year's tournament.

The seven-time champion at SW19 has only played three tournaments since January 2017 due to her pregnancy and as it stands, there is no precedent for a protected world ranking after giving birth.

However, it has been revealed that Williams will be the 25th seed for the third Major of the year, with Simona Halep topping the standings and Great Britain's Johanna Konta being seeded at number 22.

Defending champion Roger Federer is the first seed in the men's draw, but there is no place in the top 32 for Andy Murray, who has only recently returned from hip surgery.

Two-time winner Murray is yet to confirm that he will feature at Wimbledon and his lack of matches and drop down the world rankings has been reflected in the seeding list.

British number one Kyle Edmund - who faces Murray at Eastbourne on Wednesday - is the 22nd seed, with Novak Djokovic being placed at number 12.
