Laura Robson to miss French Open and Wimbledon

Laura Robson confirms that she will miss Wimbledon and the French Open after choosing to have surgery on her long-term wrist injury.

Laura Robson will miss both Wimbledon and the French Open this year after confirming that she will undergo wrist surgery.

The British number one, who has been blighted by the injury all year, took to her Facebook page to release the news this evening.

She stated that she will be treated by wrist expert Dr Richard Berger, and is choosing to have the surgery now so she can return pain-free as soon as possible.

"I have decided to have minor wrist surgery at the Mayo clinic with one of the best wrist doctors in the world, Dr Richard Berger," the statement read.

"Dr Berger is very confident that I will be able to return to the tennis court pain free before you even have time to miss me. Although sadly I will have to miss the French Open and Wimbledon."

The 20-year-old recently withdrew from several tournaments due to the injury, which has seen her slip to 64th in the WTA rankings.
