Andy Murray in regular contact with David Beckham

Andy Murray has revealed that he was in contact with retired footballer David Beckham during his Wimbledon campaign.

The Scotsman was crowned the Wimbledon champion yesterday following a three-set victory over Novak Djokovic.

"I messaged him back and forth over the past 10 days or so," BBC Sport quotes Murray as saying. "

He was getting back from Singapore and he called me this morning when I was on the way here just to say well done, congrats and enjoy it."

Beckham's wife Victoria was in the Royal Box for the final.
