Andy Murray has said that a fast start against Robin Haase proved crucial as he comfortably progressed through to the third round of Wimbledon.

The third seed secured a 6-1 6-1 6-4 triumph over the Dutchman on Court One, and the two-time major winner has admitted that he was delighted with the way that he earned his place in the last 32.

The 28-year-old told BBC Sport: "I started the match off very well while Robin was a little bit slower at the beginning before he began to play much better towards the end of the second set.

"That was the sort of match that I was expecting from the start. He was making it tougher and extending the rallies. He has some variety in his game so there were some fun points.

"I was very happy with the way that I played. There were definitely some things that I could have done better after the first round and I felt as though I did that."

Murray will play either Andreas Seppi or Borna Coric on Saturday afternoon.
