Lloyd: 'Federer too good'

Former British number one John Lloyd has insisted that Roger Federer was simply "too good" after his Wimbledon final triumph over Andy Murray.

The Swiss defeated the current British number one in four sets to earn his seventh Wimbledon crown.

"Murray wasn't passive today. He gave 100%, his attitude was good and from the start he didn't get negative. He was taking chances and taking the ball on and, to me, it was a very good performance," said Lloyd.

"There's still plenty more Grand Slams left yet. What Murray has had to go through these last two weeks, to go out there and win the first set the momentum was going his way but after that Roger just stepped up.

"As we've seen over the years, when it counts Federer just goes up to a level no-one can live with. When Federer's on he's just too good."

Murray is still searching for his first Grand Slam victory.
