Roger Federer: "My back is okay"

Roger Federer says that his back is "okay" after struggling with it during his match against Xavier Malisse.

Roger Federer has said that he will be fit and ready for his quarter-final clash with Mikhail Youzhny on Wednesday.

The Swiss player suffered from a back injury during his last-16 clash with Xavier Malisse, which he came through in four sets.

Federer said that leaving the court for treatment helped him to overcome the problem.

"My back is okay, it started to feel better as the match went on," Federer told BBC Sport. "It comes and goes. When you play on tour for over 15 years the back does hurt at times, you just hope it doesn't come in a big match. It was scary, but the treatment was a big help.

"I've been doing exercises for years. I have a pretty good record with being injury free, so if this is the worst then I'm happy. I should be back fine on Wednesday."

Federer has now made 33 consecutive Grand Slam quarter-finals.
