Evans: 'Playing Federer was a bit surreal'

Dan Evans has said that playing Roger Federer on Centre Court at Wimbledon was an "amazing experience", despite falling to a straight-sets defeat.

After reaching the last 32, Evans was outclassed by the seven-time champion but the British number four has insisted that he enjoyed his time competing against the Swiss.

The 26-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "It was good. A bit surreal actually seeing him down the other end. Yeah, it was tough to just get used to. I mean, so many people.

"It was very different to what I am used to. I didn't expect it to be so sort of on top of me. It was pretty, like, close. It was really close.

"It was just an amazing experience just to play him. I don't think I played too bad, I just didn't serve very well. I enjoyed it."

Evans will move up to around 72nd in the world rankings as a result of his performances this week.
